Hello...

We're Paul and Fiona....

Like pretty much everyone else, we're a work in progress - still on our own path of learning and discovery.  We don’t believe we have all the answers but we do believe there are some things conventional medicine can’t explain.

We also feel we’re only at the beginning of understanding the functionality of all kinds of living systems - from new discoveries in the microbiome to new science on the way that even trees talk to each other.

We trained and set up the clinic after our own unexpected health journey detours - and are extremely proud that the vast majority of our clients now come to us purely through word-of-mouth.

Paul runs a full-time clinic.

Fiona only works with a small handful of clients in addition to her 'day job' as a writer and podcast producer.

A little more on our story

To be perfectly frank, life was ambling along quite nicely...until we both had a serious health crisis, one after the other.

"He was told nothing could be done..."

First, Paul fell very ill with a virus that started out with flu-like symptoms but evolved into something not too dissimilar to long COVID (this was pre-COVID in 2018). He went from energised sea swimmer to quite literally bedridden and was eventually diagnosed with ME (aka chronic fatigue syndrome) and fibromyalgia (severe muscular pain). At a specialist clinic in Somerset he was told nothing could be done beyond pain management. To say he was devastated is an under-statement. Having tried all kinds of supplements and 'alternative' therapies, he recalled using bio-resonance when he lived in Spain. He decided to try this and… it worked. Not within weeks and months but days and hours. It was, in short, life-changing.

"She had an unexpectedly positive clinical outcome."

A few years later, Fiona (a 40-something green-smoothie-loving vegetarian with absolutely zero family history) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Full disclosure: she had 16 rounds of chemotherapy along with a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and is grateful to have had access to these. But she also used bio-resonance feedback and during her mid-chemo scan (pre-surgery) it was shown that the activity of the tumour had behaved very differently (in an incredibly positive, unexpected way).

Our ethos

We don’t believe bio-resonance is the silver bullet or the only path to good health. There’s no doubt it’s a powerful tool but so too is the body. With that in mind, what follows are a few thoughts and ideas that you may (or may not) find useful.

New science on meditation

A radical approach to fibre

A radical approach to fibre

Lately we’ve been exploring the idea that the body has an innate (and incredible) ability to heal – if we take charge and give it the right messages. We're fascinated by the work of Dr Joe Dispenza and the mind-body axis.

A radical approach to fibre

A radical approach to fibre

We're huge advocates of the work of ZOE's Dr Will Bullsiewicz and are convinced that a plant-based diet that's radically high in fibre is the way forward. But go slowly; the gut is a muscle and you’ll need to train it to eat this way.

Emerging data on sleep

A radical approach to fibre

Emerging data on sleep

There’s nothing we can say that Prof Matt Walker can’t say better. But for the record, there’s now so much new data on sleep as it relates to health and longevity (ditto stress) that it would seem nuts to ignore it. Yes, "good sleep hygiene" is a thing.

Our stance on probiotics

It's kind of boring but in-keeping with Dr Will's ethos, we believe in fixing the diet first - then stotesting the gut in order to find out what strains of probiotic you may (or may not) need. Probiotics work for some, and not for others. Fix the diet first. Always. If you need to see a nutritionist, w recommend Susie.

Turn off your phone

Get serious about stress

Cut back on the booze

We're as guilty as the next person. But with emerging data on EMF waves... ADHD... lapsed concentration. We'd advise a social media blocker, a decent alarm clock, and leaving the phone downstairs and on airplane as much as possible.

Cut back on the booze

Get serious about stress

Cut back on the booze

The simple fact is, even small amounts of alcohol is now connected to all kinds of cancers. Don't shoot the messenger.

We're not teetotal but are very mindful of what, when, and how much we drink.

Get serious about stress

Let's be honest, for most of us, life is hurried, harried, and often chaotic, messy, and busy. And what works for us may not work for you. Our best advice? Think of what you do that makes you genuinely happy…and try and find a way to do that more.

Pssst. Can't sleep?

Get a broad spectrum, good quality CBD oil.  If you have anxiety, you may wish to consider medicinal cannabis (now legal in the UK which many people aren't aware of).

A few more thoughts...

If you’re interested in fasting and autophagy, we'd point you towards the work of Dr Mindy Peltz.

There’s a compelling argument for removing mercury fillings but only via SMART registered holistic dentists.

Summing up our philosophy

A strong defence... A preventative approach

There's no doubt conventional medicine has its place but increasingly we're wondering if this is primarily for controlling the manifestations of disease – i.e. the symptoms – and perhaps it might be a good idea to do our best not to get unwell to begin with.

Our focus tends to straddle conversations around stress, sleep, and the microbiomes (plural: remember we also have an oral, an ocular, and - for some of us - a vaginal microbiome too).

We're also interested in trauma (Gabor Maté has some interesting thoughts on how trauma manifests in the body - here's one interview).

Most of our work is also predicated on boosting our client's immune system (note that there are interesting mainstream studies on cancer and the immune system). As part of this, we believe that too much stress (cortisol) and too much sugar will chip away at both the gut and the immune.

Fiona has a particular interest in the work of Dr Thomas Seyfried. This interview is interesting. We're opening doors here rather than giving advice - and we don't recommend you do anything without first consulting a doctor.

The bottom line is that the device offers a powerful therapy - but it needs you to do your bit too. Also, remember, we're not doctors or nutritionists. We're simply drawn to new thinking, new ideas, new data - and are endlessly curious about people's stories in relation to functional medicine.
